How to get to Tuebingen
1. By plane
The nearest international airport is Stuttgart. When you arrive at Stuttgart Airport you can either use German Rail (Deutsche Bahn "DB") or a taxi.
Taxis leave outside the arrival area of Stuttgart Airport on the same floor. The price from Stuttgart to Tuebingen is about 70,- DM. Going by taxi takes about 25 minutes. Therefore, using a taxi is by far the easiest and fastest way to go to Tuebingen. If you arrive with several people we highly recommend that you take a taxi.
If you choose Deutsche Bahn it is more complicated, but as long as you can not share a taxi with colleagues it is much cheaper. The price from Stuttgart Airport Station to Tuebingen Main Station ("Tuebingen HBF") is about 20,- DM, but the trip takes 90 minutes.
If you choose German Railways you can use the station inside Stuttgart Airport. Having passed customs, do not leave the building but use the escalator downstairs. You immediately arrive at the ticket office. Buy your ticket at a ticket machine (destination is "Tuebingen HBF") or at one of the counters of Deutsche Bahn.
You can use every train that leaves from Stuttgart Airport. Get off the train when it arrives at "Stuttgart - Bad Cannstadt". Here you have to change to platform 4 and enter a train to Tuebingen. As every train, which goes from Bad Cannstadt to Tuebingen, terminates in Tuebingen, all suitable trains are announced with "Tuebingen".
2. By train
The nearest large train station is Stuttgart Main Station ("Stuttgart HBF"). As every train which goes to Tuebingen terminates in Tuebingen, all suitable trains are announced with "Tuebingen". It is therefore quite easy to catch the right train at Stuttgart HBF.
